TowerCares Foundation Appoints New Chairman of the Board, Welcomes New Board Member
The TowerCares Foundation announced today that it has appointed Mr. Allen Brisentine III as new Chairman of its volunteer Board of Directors.
The TowerCares Foundation is the philanthropic arm of Tower Federal Credit Union, and was formed in 2015 to support charities who help local active military, Veterans, DoD civilian employees, and children in need. Mr. Brisentine has served on the TowerCares Board as a Director since the Foundation’s start, and also previously served on Tower Federal’s volunteer Board for the past decade.
He recently retired after 37 years of federal service with the government, and is an avid supporter of the TowerCares mission. He is also a regular participant in the Tower Classic Golf Tournament, an annual charity event sponsored by the TowerCares Foundation to raise funds for critically ill children receiving care at the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center in Baltimore.
Mr. Brisentine replaces retiring TowerCares Board Chairman Mr. George Cumberledge, who served as Board Chair from 2015-2023, and on Tower Federal’s Board for 50 years—14 of which he served as Board Chair.
The TowerCares Foundation also welcomed a new volunteer Board member, Mr. Monte Dzurenko. Mr. Dzurenko has worked for the Department of Defense for over 37 years and is a certified public accountant. He currently serves as a Director on Tower Federal’s Board, and travels the world with Habitat for Humanity, helping to build houses in third world countries.
“On behalf of TowerCares, I want to thank Allen for his enthusiasm and willingness to serve as our new Board Chairman, and also welcome Monte to our Board,” said Rick Stafford, President of the TowerCares Foundation and President & CEO of Tower Federal Credit Union. “Their diverse expertise and experiences across the financial services and defense industries will be an asset in our mission to help those in need in our community.”
Stafford went on to say: “I also want to sincerely thank George for 50 years of leadership, vision, and dedication, on both the Tower Federal Credit Union and TowerCares volunteer Boards. We wish him well in his retirement and sincerely thank him for donating his time, skills, and talents in service to both organizations for half a century.”
Since 2015, the TowerCares Foundation has provided over $2 million in grants and donations to charities supporting military, DoD employees, Veterans, and children in need, including $360,000 in scholarships for college students studying STEM or Foreign Language Linguistics degrees.
